GreenLine - Greener People, Greener World

January 19, 2011 Don Bosco High School looks like the most nature-conscious school we work with-- when we are outside the school, we are surrounded by plants and trees of different kinds. Entering the school, we are greeted by, well, surprisingly, a large number of different kind of birds. This is one of those rare palces in the city where you get to see such a large number of turkeys, along with a large number of different colored birds. If the students of this school want to see what could be at loss with environmental degradation, all they have to do is just look around. Our energy session started with a presentation by Jessica on the increase of energy consumption and why it is essential to conserve energy. Next we showed the students a  short 8 minute clip by the National Geographic Channel on the energy crisis. November 29, 2011 Like the statement makes it amply clear, it looks like the Go Green Club of Don Bosco High School, Borivli is really making a strong attempt at bagging top honors in the Green Schools Campaign's second edition. Our team reached the school, and even though the school had its Sports' Day going on, the arrangements for the session were perfect, with everything in place, and moving, one could say, almost to clockwork precision. The session began with the students of the club making a presentation on the waste audit that they had prepared following our earlier session. The presentation was perfect in every aspect, which while being very precise about the activity, also had quite an interesting side to it, with interviews taken with the Principal Fr. 4th October 2011 The Go Green Club of Don Bosco High School Borivali is ready to prove their environmental commitment. In their first session as part of the Green Schools Campaign, 27 student leaders came together to understand the problem of waste in the city, and the process of conducting a waste audit in their school. The session was marked by the students’ eager questions and intelligent comments. One of the boys summed up the issue of environmental destruction by stating that we lack a sense of ownership of and belongingness to the planet, and this pushes us humans to exploit it for monetary gain. Another student explained to the group that although we are busy chasing profits, no amount of wealth will sustain us if we exhaust Earth’s resources. The members of the Go Green Club were quick to select their leaders and form teams to conduct the waste audit. 19th January 2011 The GreenLine team did a series of sessions for the students of Don Bosco High School, Borivali on Wednesday, 19 th January. Beginning with Std IX and ending with Std V, each class had a 45-minute session that focused on the environmental crisis the world is facing and practical steps that the students can take to address this problem.
